Looking for Scholarship Competitors in 2 age groups

12 years old and under and 13-17 years old

Compete in this program to gain a Deeper Knowledge of Horses and Horsemanship

Curriculum has 3 Learning Sections

Section 1)       Volunteer Hours 10 hours for complete credit.  

Section 2)       Study Equestrian materials.  Sit for test on material in November. 

Topics to include:

a.  General knowledge of horse anatomy & conformation.

b.  General knowledge on soundness, health and illnesses in a horse.

c.  General knowledge of grooming tools and Western and English Tack.

d.  The proper cleaning and care of your horse and tack after riding.

e.  Safety around horses and correct leading of a horse.

f.  Correct grooming and bridling of a horse. 

Section 3)       Participation in a Clinic on Leading, Grooming and Tacking Up to be given two times before November.  A demonstration by the participant will be required to be evaluated for a grade in November. 

Each section will be averaged for points accrued, and sections will be added together.   The highest and 2^nd highest points in each age group place first and second.  Prizes:  Large Engraved Trophy and Scholarship Money of $100 for 1^st place, $50 for  2^nd place.
